Through our dynamic two-year fellowship, Fellows apply their English and Math skills to lead $10,000 community projects that tackle local challenges, gaining practical experience and essential skills for college and beyond. Supported by Members who bring fresh perspectives and Community Partners who offer expert guidance, NewComm fosters a collaborative local ecosystem that cultivates leadership, strengthens resilience, and drives economic growth within communities. This is the future of education—paving the way for the next generation of community builders.
WE IDENTIFY
Every fall, we work with schools and community organizations in historically marginalized communities to identify students with emerging or strong leadership potential. These students are invited to join our team as Fellows, where they collaborate with educators, community leaders, and local professionals to develop their skills and drive positive change. Fellows also recruit their peers, bringing them on board as Members to build a supportive network dedicated to creating a meaningful impact in their communities.
WE INVEST
Throughout the fellowship, Fellows receive stipends to lead, develop, and sustain $10,000 community projects using our English and Math curriculum. Fellows also benefit from comprehensive college preparation and support throughout the program. In addition to academic and project guidance, we offer both Fellows and Members monthly social programming, career mentorship, and wellness support.
We partner with local independent high schools and colleges to transform their facilities into “Community Design Studios” during off-hours. In these hubs, Fellows and Members not only access the extensive resources and state-of-the-art environments of these institutions but also benefit from the expertise of community partners who guide their work. Here, they gather to share meals, enhance their academic skills, and bring their $10,000 projects to life. Through these innovative public-private partnerships, we democratize access to exceptional learning environments and expert guidance.
